Most of the fifth grades had outstanding science projects.  The judges selected Arnulfo Contreras and his scientific method of ripening avocados for first place.  Katie Michel’s endeavor to describe the effects of various liquids on a cow stomach in second place.  Lizbeth Crispin found that a bean seed would grow the fastest in third place.  Congratulations!  Get ready for next year!

February’s Students of the Month were Lola Youssef and Arnulfo Contreras for continuing to work hard and be the best that they can be.  Good job!   Outstanding Character certificates were awarded to Arnulfo Contreras, Anthony Crespo, Lizbeth Crispin, Katie Michel, Milena Rankovic, Josh Serna, and Lola Youssef.  Keep up the good work!

The class is continuing to work on their state projects and learn the names and capitals of all fifty states.

Easter vacation begins with a half day on Holy Thursday, March 20th.  Classes resume on April 1st.  May all of you have a blessed and happy Easter.

February Notes

These days of February are flying by.  The students have  free days on Friday, February 15th and Monday, February 18th.  They can use this time to put the final touches on their science projects which are due on Tuesday, February 19th.

Catholic Schools’ Week was a great success.  Thank you so much for the cards and gifts.  I did feel appreciated.

Every fifth grader did an outstanding job at the Mass.  The readers, servers, gift bearers, and ushers are all to be congratulated for doing their parts perfectly.  Way to go, Fifth Grade!

The January Students of the Month were Katie Michel and Milena Rankovic.  Katie has been using her higher level thinking skills in class.  Milena has adjusted to her new school and has learned from mistakes and has kept trying.  She also models Christian behavior. Congratulations to both of you.

Arnulfo, Anthony, Lizbeth, Katie, Milena, Josh, and Lola received the January character awards.  Keep up the good work!

Catholic Schools’ Week began with a delicious breakfast and Open House on Sunday, January 27th. Katie Michel’s family were the chefs for this great meal. Thank you very much!

The students are looking forward to continuing the week of festivities that reflect the theme of “Catholic Schools light the way.”

Tuesday the students will demonstrate how they appreciate their parents.

On Wednesday the fifth grade is planning the Mass that will be celebrated at 1:30. Please join us for this celebration and appreciation for our pastor Father Barnes and Father Mike and Father Fred.

Thursday the students will be appreciated, and there will be some surprises in store for them.

Friday is a half day of school with a breakfast and lunch for teachers and Ms Genovese, our principal.
